The PEFC Council has endorsed the revision of six PEFC documents covering PEFC's requirements for sustainable forest management, group forest certification, chain of custody certifiation, trademark use, and standard setting.
The revisions imply significant changes, such as the inclusion of social issues in the chain of custody and the coverage of indigenous and workers' rights in certified forests (see our story on this topic).
We will inform in detail about the changes pertinent to certified organizations as well as deadlines for compliance in our next newsletter. Meanwhile, we encourage all PEFC-certified companies to peruse the revised standards outlining the new requirements.
