Preferred by Nature announces stakeholder consultation on the Ecosystem Restoration Standard
Preferred by Nature invites interested stakeholders to participate in a public consultation on revising its Standard for Field Verification of Ecosystem Restoration, Version 4.0. The consultation will gather input and feedback on the proposed verification approach.
Aligned with the goals of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, of which Preferred by Nature is a partner, we have developed the Standard for Field Verification of Ecosystem Restoration. This Standard helps assess restoration work across tropical, temperate and boreal ecosystems. It looks at technical, environmental, social and economic factors and provides a clear framework and checklist for verifying ecosystem restoration implementation.
This Standard can be used for projects of different sizes and types, from smallholder and community projects to medium- and large-scale operations.
The first version of the Standard was released for public consultation in September 2020. Since then, the Standard has supported restoration projects in Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas, including projects in Spain and Chile.
