The Assurance System Evaluation Framework (ASEF) is developed as a structured approach to evaluate the scope and robustness of second- and third-party verification and certification systems for deforestation-risk commodities. Its genesis lies in the recognition that a transparent and comparable tool is needed to assess the credibility of Assurance Systems—both for companies choosing a system and for system owners aiming to maintain relevance and improve alignment with evolving regulations.
