The European Commission proposed an amending regulation to the EUDR on 2 October 2024. The European Parliamentary vote on the amending regulation took place on 14 November, and the result is a little complicated. Prior to the vote, the European Peoples’ Party (EPP) removed some of the amendments they had tabled. Specifically, amendments 1, 2, 8, 13, 14, and 15 included provisions to extend the delay of the enforcement date by two years (instead of one year) and to remove almost all obligations on traders from the scope of the regulation.
