Belgian supermarket launches FSC certified till receipts
According to a press release from FSC-Belgium, the Colruyt group is switching to FSC-certified paper for its till receipts for a number of its subsidiaries.
In total, these utilize between 110 and 120 million till receipts in A5 format per year.
"Laid end to end, the till slips produced each year would have a length of 25,000 km", said Mieke Vercaeren, environmental advisor for the Colruyt Group, adding: "“We wanted to promote the FSC label by showing a good example ourselves. And our till receipts excellently serve that purpose".
The outlets of the Colruyt group have already been offering FSC-certified products such as garden furniture for a while, and have been expanding their FSC-certified product range to cover also e.g. paper products.
Colruyt operates discount supermarkets as well as a number of retail shops including e.g. Bio Planet (bio/organic supermarkets), Okay (grocery stores) and Dreamland (toys). The group has operations in France, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
