TTN Verification FAQs: Everything You Need to Know

What does “verified” mean on TTN? 

“Verified” means that Preferred by Nature has checked selected tool features and feature values against the TTN verification framework and found that they are present and operational at the time of review. 

Does verification mean that Preferred by Nature recommends the tool? 

No. Verification is not an endorsement, certification, ranking, or recommendation. It confirms whether specific claimed features or values were checked and found to be in place. Users still need to decide whether a tool is suitable for their own needs and context. 

What are the minimum requirements for a tool to be shown as verified? 

To be shown as verified on TTN, a tool must meet the minimum verification threshold: at least 75% of the claimed features included in the verification scope must receive a positive verification result. In addition, the tool must support the critical features defined in the verification checklist. Providers may still self-disclose other features or values, including information that was outside the verification scope or did not pass verification, but those items will not be shown as verified. 

What information is verified? 

Only features and feature values that are included in the TTN verification scope can be verified. These are checked using defined indicators, verifiers, evidence, and, where relevant, demonstrations in a functional tool environment. 

What information is not verified? 

Some information on TTN may remain self-disclosed. This includes information that has not yet been reviewed, information outside the verification scope, and features or values that are not currently verifiable at reasonable cost or with sufficient confidence. 

How can I tell whether a tool has been verified? 

Verified tools are marked with a verified tag on TTN. In tool detail and comparison views, users can also switch to a verified view to focus on information that has passed verification. 

What is the difference between standard view and verified view? 

The standard view shows the full set of self-disclosed tool information. The verified view shows only the information that is both within the verification scope and positively verified. Non-verified or non-verifiable information may be hidden or greyed out in verified view. 

Why are some features greyed out or hidden in verified view? 

Features or values may be greyed out or hidden because they are not in the verification scope, have not yet been verified, could not be verified, or did not receive a positive verification result. 

Does verification check how well a tool performs? 

No. Verification checks whether selected claimed features or values are present and operational. It does not assess performance, quality, effectiveness, legal compliance, or suitability for a particular use case. 

Is verification valid forever? 

No. Verification reflects the information and evidence available at the time of assessment. If a tool or the TTN feature framework changes, previously verified information may need to be updated or re-verified. 

What happens if a tool provider updates verified information? 

If previously verified information is changed, the affected information may lose its verified status until the update has been reviewed. The standard view may still show the provider’s updated self-disclosed information. 

What should I do if I think tool information is incorrect? 

If you believe information on TTN is outdated, incomplete, or inaccurate, use the available feedback or complaint mechanism. Feedback helps improve the quality of TTN and supports ongoing updates to tool information and verification processes.
