
Lauren Marx
Lauren contributes to Preferred by Nature’s Sustainability Advisory team and Agriculture certification teams to support sustainable agricultural supply chain. With her work in Sustainability Advisory, Lauren provides advisory services to a portfolio of clients in different commodity sectors to support them in their goals to meet sustainability commitments and legal requirements. On the certification team, Lauren oversees and manages the execution of Rainforest Alliance audits.
As an Agricultural Sustainability Specialist based in New York City, Lauren works across both the Sustainability Advisory and Agriculture divisions to help businesses align with environmental and legal commitments such as the EU Deforestation Regulation. Lauren splits her time between the sustainability advisory services and the agriculture auditing team. In her role with the Sustainability Advisory team, she delivers supply chain risk assessments, policy review, and research analysis to support clients in strengthening their responsible sourcing systems.
Lauren’s background combines academic and applied experience in sustainability management, corporate reporting, and environmental data analysis. She has worked with for-profit and non-profit organisations to deliver guidance on compliance with regulations, sustainability strategies, and carbon accounting aligned with global standards. Prior to joining Preferred by Nature, Lauren held roles as a graduate sustainability consultant, ESG advisory intern, and assistant research scientist focused on sustainability metrics.
She holds an MSc in Sustainability Management from Columbia University and a BS in Business Administration from NYU Stern, where she focused on finance and sustainable business
