Melysa supports the development of a new management plan for the Maliau Basin Conservation Area in Sabah, Malaysia. Her work involves both technical and operational responsibilities, contributing to field assessments, stakeholder engagement and documentation efforts. She assists in coordinating key project activities, helping ensure quality control and alignment with the organisation’s conservation goals in the region.

At Preferred by Nature, Melysa plays a key supporting role in the management planning process for the Maliau Basin Conservation Area. She contributes to field data collection, document preparation, and stakeholder coordination, working closely with project leads to help ensure the plan reflects practical realities and supports conservation outcomes. Her responsibilities include preparing communication tools, maintaining project records, and assisting in tracking progress to ensure timely delivery of outputs.

Prior to joining the organisation, Melysa worked as an administrative assistant at Ichiban Autohaus and completed internships in furniture design and wood-based technology, where she developed strong documentation and technical coordination skills. 

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Forestry Science with a focus on Wood Technology and Industry from University Malaysia Sabah, and a diploma in Wood Based Technology from Politeknik Kota Kinabalu. Her academic work included research on renewable energy using wood pellets, reflecting her interest in sustainability-focused innovation.
