Based in Munich, Tobias leads the development and implementation of Preferred by Nature’s Traceability Strategy and action plan. He provides technical expertise on CoC models, traceability systems, and data governance while building capacity within the organisation and with external stakeholders. His work includes advising on fraud risk mitigation, assessing emerging technologies in product testing, remote sensing and supply chain data management, and ensuring that Preferred by Nature’s CoC standard and traceability solutions align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Tobias also represents the organisation in external platforms, including ISEAL and certification scheme discussions, and supports internal projects related to regulatory impact and strategic initiatives.

Tobias holds a Master of Life Science in International Management of Forest Industries from Hochschule Weihenstephan-Triesdorf and Bern University of Applied Sciences, and a Diploma in Wood Engineering from Berufsakademie Sachsen. He brings over 20 years of experience in forestry, certification, supply chain risk assessment, and product development. His career includes roles as Project Manager at Global Traceability Solutions, Lead Auditor at SQS, and lead researcher at the World Resources Institute, where he worked on timber traceability and legality verification across Latin America and Southeast Asia. Tobias has also worked extensively as a freelance FSC/PEFC auditor and consultant, combining technical auditing expertise with hands-on project and quality management experience.
