
Pilar Gorría Serrano
Through her experience and work, Pilar collaborates with the progress of Spanish industry and forestry towards improving environmental, economic and social issues. Pilar works with issues such as carbon, certification and legality.
Pilar is a forestry engineer from the University of Madrid. As part of her studies, she spent time at the Forestry Research National Center (BFV) in Vienna, where she focused on carbon soil emissions in commercially managed forests. Throughout her professional career, she has worked in forest fire prevention, rural development projects under the Agenda 21 framework, environmental improvement planning, and within the international development programme of Spain’s National Park Agency.
She has contributed to several publications, including a Socio-economic Resources Atlas for the Pyrenees and the Colombia National Parks Guide.
Over the past 10 years at Preferred by Nature, Pilar has been actively involved in a range of certification schemes. She works as a Lead Auditor for FSC Forest Management, FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody, and serves as a Lead Auditor and Technical Expert in the biomass sector under the SBP certification scheme, supporting Preferred by Nature, clients and other stakeholders.
