Ying shapes the national agriculture sustainability strategy, aligning global sustainability standards with local realities. She leads multi-stakeholder projects, advises on technical and policy matters, and builds capacity for farmers, private companies, and institutions. She supports the design of integrated solutions that address carbon, water, and biodiversity outcomes, while fostering innovation in supply chain sustainability and climate resilience.

Before joining Preferred by Nature, Ying built and led China’s agriculture conservation program at The Nature Conservancy, establishing one of the first end-to-end sustainability teams in the country. She has extensive experience in academia, serving as an Associate Professor and graduate supervisor, and has managed large research programs in plant biotechnology, crop genetics, and regenerative agriculture. Her education includes a PhD and MSc from Wageningen University and a BSc in Plant Protection from China Agricultural University.
